Verified Assessment

A named expert checks your evidence, control by control

A self-assessment is only as good as the answers. In a Verified Assessment, a qualified reviewer opens the evidence behind each control you say is in place and decides: accepted, or more needed. The result names the reviewer and states exactly what was verified.

01How it works

Four steps

  1. Complete an assessment and attach evidence

The reviewer checks evidence, not answers, so the Evidence Room needs to hold it first. That is why a Verified Assessment pairs with DPDP Remediation.

  2. Request the review

From your workspace. It uses one verification credit, bought by invoice.

  3. A reviewer takes it

You see their name and qualification as soon as the review starts. They see your answers and evidence for that assessment only, and each file they open is logged.

  4. Decisions, control by control

Each control in scope is either accepted or returned with a note saying what more is needed. You can add evidence and request another review.

02What the result says

Expert-Verified, with its scope written out

An Expert-Verified result always states the reviewer, the date and the scope. For example:

“Verified by [reviewer], [qualification], on [date]. Scope: 18 of the 21 controls in place were checked and accepted, out of 41 controls assessed.”

Controls the reviewer did not accept are listed with their notes. Evidence that later passes its review date shows as due for review, not as verified.

03What it does not claim
  • i

It is not a certificate of compliance. It records one reviewer’s decisions on specific evidence on a specific date.

  • ii

No government body approves it. There is no official DPDP certification scheme, and this is not one.

  • iii

It covers only what was in scope. Controls not accepted, and controls answered No, are outside it.

04Reviewers

Reviews are carried out by qualified professionals, such as advocates and company secretaries with a data-protection practice. Each reviewer’s name and qualification appear on the result, so you can judge them for yourself. If you are one and would like to review, see Partners.

  • Review of one assessment by a named, qualified reviewer
  • A decision on each control in scope: accepted, or what more is needed
  • An Expert-Verified result that states the reviewer, date and scope
  • Needs evidence in the Evidence Room, so it pairs with a plan
